Agreement

These Terms govern your use of My Outdoor Compass (“Compass,” “we,” “us”), operated by MY OUTDOOR COMPASS TECHNOLOGIES. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using Compass, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Decision support—not a guarantee

Compass provides informational planning and decision support. Answers may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or incorrect. Compass does not guarantee campsite availability or fit, route clearance, road safety, weather, wildfire status, regulations, prices, product suitability, or legal compliance. Verify safety-critical decisions with the identified official authority, campground, manufacturer, emergency service, or qualified professional.

Emergency and survival information

Compass is not an emergency-response service and cannot dispatch help. In immediate danger, contact 911 or the applicable local emergency service whenever possible. Emergency, offline, or survival guidance is general information and is not a substitute for emergency personnel, medical care, rescue services, training, or sound personal judgment.

Accounts

You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding your login method, and activity under your account. Do not share paid access, impersonate another person, create accounts to bypass limits, probe security controls, or obtain another user’s private information. We may restrict or suspend access to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or maintain the service.

Free access

Guest and free-account allowances are offered as described in Compass and may be protected by browser, device, account, and security controls. Guest access currently includes up to three lifetime questions per browser or device. A free account currently includes up to three generic questions per UTC day and 12 per UTC month. Free access does not include saved profiles, personalized profile use, saved planning history, community or photo submissions, or answer feedback. Failed or blocked questions are not intended to consume an allowance.

Compass Unlimited subscriptions

Compass Unlimited unlocks the premium capabilities identified at checkout and in the service. The current prices are CA$15.99 per month or CA$131.88 per year. These advertised prices are the total subscription amounts charged unless Checkout clearly states otherwise. The annual plan represents a CA$60 saving compared with 12 monthly payments at the current monthly price.

Subscriptions begin when Stripe confirms successful payment and automatically renew at the selected interval until cancelled. By purchasing, you authorize Stripe to charge the saved payment method for the initial purchase and each renewal. Returning from Checkout alone does not activate paid access; activation depends on verified server-side payment and subscription status.

Cancellation, failed payments, and refunds

You may manage or cancel Compass Unlimited through the secure customer billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and access remains available until that time unless access is restricted for misuse, fraud, a dispute, or another lawful reason. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not normally refund time already purchased. Failed payments may be retried and may require payment authentication or an updated payment method. If payment cannot be recovered, paid access may be suspended or cancelled.

Refund eligibility, duplicate or erroneous charges, and cancellation details are explained in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

Personal-use safeguards

Compass Unlimited is intended for normal personal and household outdoor planning, not automated, bulk, shared, resale, scraping, benchmarking, or commercial API use. Current safeguards allow up to 50 planning sessions per UTC day and 500 per UTC month. These safeguards protect service reliability and are not a promise of uninterrupted availability. Contact support if legitimate personal use is incorrectly restricted.

Price and service changes

We may change future subscription prices, plan features, limits, or availability. A price change will not alter a completed billing period and will be communicated before it applies to a future renewal when required. You may cancel before the changed renewal price takes effect. Third-party services and integrations may change or become unavailable without notice.

Acceptable use

You may not use Compass to violate laws, endanger others, distribute malware, probe systems, scrape protected data, evade security or access controls, submit fraudulent reports, interfere with service operation, or upload content you do not have the right to use.

Community submissions

You retain ownership of your original reports and photographs. You grant Compass a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, review, format, display, and use approved submissions to provide and improve the service. You confirm that your submission is truthful to the best of your knowledge and does not expose private information, infringe rights, or encourage unsafe conduct. We may approve, reject, edit for clarity, or remove submissions.

AI-generated content

Compass uses artificial intelligence and structured data sources. AI output is probabilistic and can misinterpret context or sources. Confidence labels communicate evidence quality; they do not create a warranty.

Affiliate recommendations

Compass may earn commissions from clearly disclosed affiliate links. A recommendation is not a warranty or endorsement by a manufacturer, campground, booking service, retailer, or public authority. Verify price, compatibility, delivery, returns, availability, and instructions before purchasing.

Disclaimer and limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Compass is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free results. To the extent permitted by law, Compass and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from reliance on the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Compass develops. Material changes will be identified by a revised effective date and, when appropriate, an account, email, or in-product notice. Continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
